ECU Tuning Compatibility & Development

AMT Tuning is currently validating ECU tuning support for the fifth-generation Toyota Prius equipped with the 2.0L M20A-FXS hybrid powertrain.

This application uses Toyota's latest-generation hybrid system and a Denso engine control module. Although the engine belongs to the same M20A family used in several current Toyota applications, the Prius uses the Atkinson-cycle M20A-FXS engine and its own hybrid-specific engine management and calibration.

Tuning availability must therefore be confirmed for the individual vehicle before ordering.

ECU hardware and software identification must be verified before tuning. Part numbers, software versions and programming compatibility can vary by market, production date and vehicle configuration.

AMT will not publish estimated horsepower or torque gains until the ECU calibration and complete hybrid powertrain response have been tested and verified.

To help us confirm your vehicle, please provide:

• Vehicle year and trim
• VIN
• FWD or AWD
• Clear photo of the engine ECU identification label
• Clear photo showing the complete ECU and both electrical connectors
• Any current engine or exhaust modifications

This information allows us to verify the exact ECU hardware and software version and determine the correct programming method.

Important Programming Information

Do not use flashing procedures, cables or ECU connections intended for another Toyota model unless AMT has confirmed compatibility with the ECU installed in your Prius.

The Prius uses hybrid-specific engine management, and compatibility cannot be determined from the M20A engine family alone.

Fuel

The factory M20A-FXS engine is designed for regular unleaded fuel. Fuel requirements for performance calibrations will be specified once each tuning level has been validated.
